Application of Big Data Analytics on ESG Corporate Performance: A News and Social Media Perspective (15 Nov 2023)

Summary: 

Continuing the topics of Seminar 1, Prof Louis Cheng showed in detail the background and calculation of the i-Score. Ms Florence Li  carried on with technical presentation on the use of big data analytics and machine learning tools for ESG assessment. Ms Vivi Hu introduced a model product, the China Climate Risk Model System (YoujiCRMS) which is designed for helping enterprises identify, analyze, and providing 

quantitative solution of climate physical and transition risks. Mr Hauman Yeung showed unclear and ambiguous ESG disclosures from companies' disclosure reports and explained how these information might mislead investors. Lastly, Prof Louis Cheng announced i-Composite Scorecard v2.0 and showed 3D Python visualisations.

Outline: 

The second seminar will begin with technical presentation on employing big data analytics and machine learning tools for ESG evaluation. 3D Python visualisations to understand the implications from ESG news and social media sentiment will be shown. Top 100 and Bottom 100 firms from the i-Composite Scorecard will be announced. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance (3 hours) after the event.

Due to the limited capacity of the venue, registration will be processed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Since the event is operated in hybrid mode, please indicate your attendance preference (i.e. physical or online) accordingly in the registration form. Registration may be closed earlier if maximum capacity is reached.

**Accreditation of CPD points/hours is subject to the final decision of respective organisations.
